Are you ready for the season ahead?

We have all been waiting for the racing season to get here in our area, and nothing we do can hurry it along. We can fret, complain and react in many different ways.

The reality is we are not in control of some of the most needed elements for a good season. Tops on our list is usually the weather, and even though it is completely out of our control, we still don’t seem to understand. This brings me to another question – who is in control? Certainly not the track promoter, crew, racers, or fans. So then, if none of those is in control, just who is in control?

Or if your car is not ready, and you have known what has been needed for a long time and neglected to do it, then who is at fault?

There seems to be a common response to most of the questions I have posed. Well it’s not my fault, and in some cases here, you may be right. After the last race of 2008 I began to prepare for 2009. In some areas I still feel inadequate and I can not look at you and cast the blame because this is my responsibility to prepare properly.

Even with the best human preparation and endless hours of work I have watched some of the best prepared race teams have a terrible season. But the next year they may return and be champions. The secret for them is not quitting. Are you quitting or preparing?

My mission for the race track is not to see you win every race but prepare each of you to win the biggest race of your life. That is entering the heavenly gate and being inducted into the hall of fame with many who have gone before you and I. I have never won an auto race, quite a few motor cycle races, however none of these qualify me for Gods Hall of fame. The only way I can get in is by allowing Jesus to be my crew chief and follow everything he tells me.

Please stay with me for a few more lines, they are the most important instructions you will ever hear and they don’t come from me, but by his power,  from the One that controls the weather, and he dosen’t want your eternal race rained out.

Hebrews 12:1-3 is a good passage to read to prepare yourself for Heaven. Once you have given everything to Jesus, you are promised entry into his hall of fame. No rain outs, wrecks, blown motors or any other disaster will be able to keep you out. Wouldn’t you like that guarantee for your Saturday night races?

There will be about 7 months of racing ahead, with many victories as well as many defeats, but if you sign up for God’s race, you are a guaranteed winner.

Helping you get ready,

Chaplain Bill
