A Saturday Night To Remember

I will relive last Saturday night at the track for the rest of my life. Why, you might ask? Well, for starters, we were racing, and that is what some of us are born to do.

Mercer Raceway Park opened their hearts and doors to the Schrum family and his crew for a very special night at the track. There was a family reunion feeling as Jeff and Jenny walked thru the pits and greeted friends they had not Seen or spent time with for quite a while. Beaber, Kent, George, Sodeman Jr and Sr, Edwards, the list was so long I could finish this article with names only.

One of the highlights of my night was watching and listening to Gary Edwards and Jeff talk about how they started and how Gary got Jeff into sprint cars. It was a low dollar, high talent combination that had much success for a long time. This is a great lesson in how the racing family accomplishes their dream.

At this point we could be tempted to say those were the good old days; I would say any time friends help each other accomplish a dream it is a good day, regardless if it happened 25 years ago or today. I like to believe Saturday night will be one of those referred to as the good old days. The best thing we can do is keep making good new days happen.

What I am talking about is not money, fame, or front page notoriety, but rather making the day special for someone other than yourself. If I can do one thing with my life, it will be to help another person have a good day, and then find some way to make the next one even better.

Experiences like this can be made possible as an individual effort, but even better as a group effort. Saturday was a group effort, and therefore no one person gets all the praise, and this is how God wants it.

Now, will you pray with me for the healing of God to come to Jeff and allow him to hear from God’s Spirit, and let his next days be the good new days of his life? If there is anyone that will work at his future, I am certain Jeff will be the one, especially with the support he has from Jenny and his daughters. Now let us agree in prayer, and practical support, for Jeff’s future.

Living, Loving, Praying
