Racing and the Easter season.

First I would like to apologize for not posting anything since March 30th. I will not make any excuses, only tell you the reasons.

My life has been full with needs for the racing family as well as my own. These, along with the fact I still have to find time for my welding  jobs, makes Bill a very busy boy. It is also the life I like. God has been so good to me over the years and I will always thank Him.

I am pleased to report to you that Paul Oyler will be able to resume life in a new way, but he will need to make some major adjustments in his life style. This is possible, but that is where we all can have a part in his health needs. If any of you have ever had to make major lifestyle changes, you know what I am talking about. Encouragement is key in a major lifestyle change, so when you see Paul, you can help him by offering a word of encouragement.

There have been many serious health needs that have come to my attention recently. Most of them cancer in one form or another, and are affecting both young and old. This is a very insidious illness and cannot be cured soon enough. We have been touched by this evil at the tracks many times over the last few years.

This Saturday, Kevin Green and myself will travel with The Haylett family to take care of Leyland’s ashes and give the family closure. This is one of the most difficult yet rewarding services we could be a part of. Having Kevin at the track and as a friend is a great blessing.

Mercer Raceway has been so supportive of the racers needs over the last ten years in personal ways that have not, and may never be revealed, at least not by me. This has been demonstrated by the competitors as well. When I mention a need at the drivers meeting the response is always astounding. This certainly is a testimony to the family atmosphere that exists at grassroots tracks, and makes me proud to be a part of this type of racing. WE ARE FAMILY, in the best way, serving others.

Years ago I founded a Church. It was a success, and in the process, I became a professional preacher and derived my livelihood from the Church. This was never my intent; I wanted to be a tent-making preacher. A little over three years ago, through a series of events, and God knowing my desire, He made it possible for me to be a tent maker. At first it was very difficult, but the results have made me very content. In no way do I say it is wrong to be a paid preacher, but for me, it was not the right thing.

Saturday night will be Easter service for many that attend the races, and with your permission and support, we will have Easter at the track for many that will not be going to church on Sunday. Incidentally, I will be attending church, and if any of you want to go with me, I would be glad to have you with me.

Please let me know if you know of any needs in this special family. I will make every effort to contact them, but you can, and should, meet their needs. You really don’t have to be a preacher, just share Jesus with them. It may be received better from a tent maker. If you don’t think so ask me, I have been on both sides.

Last but not least, remember that Jesus was a carpenter and look what he accomplished in his short life, and the lasting results it has even today.

Read John 3:16-17.

Happy Easter
