The month of February has a lot of memories for me, among them the first Daytona race in 1959 and I was there, and also our wedding day on February 16, 1957. Both are great dates, but only one is history making, and it is not Daytona. You can guess the most important one.
I have wanted to return to Daytona many times, but not as much as I want Judy to return home. That day will make Daytona a passing thought, and seeing her in this house again will far overshadow the 500.
Don’t get me wrong, I really love racing and so does Judy. If I ever go back to Daytona, it will be with her. Then it will really be special.
Richard Petty is in a time of great struggle with his wife battling a brain tumor. I would be willing to bet that if he could, he would trade all of his Daytona trips for her to be healthy. But God is not a game show and we don’t make deals. When I read about Patty Petty, I wept for Richard because I know what he is going through.
Time like these are when we really come to grips with our humanness, and most times we don’t like it. But like Richard, I will spend many hours on my spiritual knees thanking God for His love for us, and the promise that He will never leave or forsake us.
Richard, you are the King of NASCAR, and I pray your Queen gets well. I will pray for you at the same time I pray for Judy.
Happy anniversary Honey! I love you, and wait for our trip to Daytona. We will be the big winners!
I love you Judy, forever…
Bill
